What XRL is
XRL is the client/server system developed by PowerWolf Software Solutions to manage software activations and automatically verify the features associated with each license type.
The system consists of a client component developed in C#, integrated into PowerWolf management software, and a server component developed in PHP, hosted on PowerWolf’s web infrastructure.
The server uses a database containing the licenses and the information required to manage them. Requests sent by the applications are processed through queries that verify license status and the enabled features.
Automatic activations and checks
When a user enters their license details, the client component communicates with the XRL server and requests verification of the information associated with the purchase.
The server can automatically check the license type, the enabled features and the conditions associated with the purchased product. The result is then returned to the software, which configures the corresponding features.
This approach centralizes activation management and keeps information consistent across the sales system, the license database and the applications installed by users.
Integration with 2Checkout and Verifone
XRL is integrated with the APIs of the 2Checkout / Verifone payment platform.
After a purchase is confirmed, the system can retrieve the required information, generate the license for the selected edition and automatically send it to the email address provided by the buyer.
The purchase, license-generation and delivery process can therefore be completed without manual intervention during normal operation, reducing the time required to make the purchased software available.
How the process works
From purchase confirmation to software activation
1. Purchase confirmation
The 2Checkout / Verifone platform confirms the order and provides the XRL system with the information required to manage the license.
2. License generation
XRL records the required data in the database and generates a license matching the software, edition and features purchased.
3. Delivery and activation
The license is sent to the buyer’s email address. The client integrated into the software can then query XRL and complete the verification required for activation.
